
Joel was born in Yonkers, New York and received his B.A. from
Syracuse University and his M.A. in philosophy from the University of Chicago. He served
for ten years as a continuing education administrator with the University of Chicago and
twelve years as Director of Education of the Chicago Association of Realtors.
He is immediate past president of the Association of Illinois Real Estate Educators and a
past Midwest Vice President of the Real Estate Educators Association.
Joel has taught for many years in the University of Chicago's Graham School of General
Studies - Basic Program of Liberal Education for Adults. He has also served as an
instructor in humanities at Indiana University, Columbia College, and the College of St.
Francis.
He has delivered public lectures on a number of different authors and subjects, including
Mark Twain, Herman Melville, Virginia Woolf, and Existentialism.
As President of CYGNET Education and Information Services, Inc. Joel has been especially
interested in developing distance learning projects, including those using print, CD-ROM,
and Internet media.
